Vivid Memories...

A Poem

I saw how he kissed her hand

And it just brought me back

To the vivid memories of you and me

Memories of your soft lips pressed against me

The way you would sit and stare before leaning in

Your hand tilting my chin up

My lips parallel to yours

Eyes closed as time would stop for just a moment

I saw how he looked at her

And thought of you

And the many times I’d find you staring at me through a crowd

Or the way your eyes lit up whenever you saw me

Or the moments you took your time to study me

My expressions

My edges

My curves

My personality

Studying me left to right

Before saying just how beautiful I was

I saw the way he showed he loved her

And it took me back to you

To us

Back to the days of sweet embrace

Where you’d twirl me in the street under the moonlight

Or how every one of your fingers had to be perfectly intertwined with mine

Moments of you slowly wrapping your arms around my waist from behind

Resting your head on my shoulder

The moment of teasing and messing around

Laughing 'til our stomachs hurt

Moments where we ruled the world because we had each other

I saw how they were

And thought of us.
