Visions of Buffalo

Oklahoma

To be awakened

By the sound of thundering hooves

And to see them coming over the hill

At first, it strikes fear in your heart

Then, a sense of calmness takes over

As you feel their presence

Hello old friend

So glad you stopped by

Even for just a moment

This land belongs to them

And without it

They cannot survive

Little by little

We have taken whats theirs

By no right of our own

They don't come this way anymore

It has left an emptiness

A void that can't be filled

The rail and the cross ties

Are just across the way

Not too far from here

I can see the locomotive

But not the track

It sits upon

It appears

To just plow through the land

Nothing can stop it

Nothing can stop it

So I once felt about the buffalo

Nothing can stop them

We are trespassers

Ignorant about the law

Arrogant fools

To disrupt

The order of things

An unpardonable sin

Nothing can stop us

So I once felt about the buffalo
