Villanelle on the Wok

No, Construction Never Ends

The aromatics, which fill your home intrigue your friends

When green onion, garlic, and ginger start to form

Your patina, of which construction never ends

Then they’re removed and thrown into the bin

Kept far away, as not to reform

The aromatics, which fill your home and intrigue your friends

The addition of each new ingredient lends

Its own qualities to the concoction that swarms

Your patina, of which construction never ends

Fish oil, soy sauce, or wine easily can bend

Unstimulating sapor and transform

The aromatics, which fill your home intriguing your friends

The scent is now familiar to guests and sends

A message which apparently reads storm

Your patina, of which construction never ends

Food serves as a wonderful medium to mend

Broken hearts. Relationships can be transformed

When the aromatics fill your home and intrigue your friends

Who marvel at your patina, of which construction never ends
