Vices

They all had them it seemed.

Vices

They all had them

They were all anxious and insecure

They were all connected somehow

Of course that's how family and friends are

Vices

Some smoked

Many drank

Some hid behind their phones

Many denied what they did

Some ate their feelings away with food

Many joked inappropriately

Why can't we all be real?

Why can't we all be raw?

Why can't we all answer hard questions?

Why do we babble about a lot of nothing?

Is this really what family and friends are supposed to be?

For some, maybe it is all they've ever known

For many this is just the way they are home grown

The battle of this and that was strong

Mindful self-conflicting warring song
