Vice Versa

Me vs. You

Pale skin on my very tan body.

Black hair that you sweep to the right side of your head.

Bony hands that linger over the piano and the notes get the order, without you even lifting a finger.

Cherry stained lips without product, eyes that remind me of a hike through the woods and being engulfed with nature.

Your stance that takes up almost the whole bed and the covers while we sleep.

It’s okay I’ll just use you as a ladder to get a bowl for my cereal.

Rings on your thumbs but nowhere else, you’ll explain it to me later.

Baby pictures with missing dates, but your dimples told amazing stories.

You don’t necessarily carry baggage, but you left your luggage in the corner of our house.

A heart of gold that was once painted black, you made it work.

I believe in Astrology and you believe in birthdays.

You believe in destiny and I believe in stories.

You believe in living in the moment and I believe in recording memories.

You believe in actions and I believe in words, and one day I’ll be able to believe in you.

I like being alone, but you like giving company.

I like staying in my bed all day, you like being the comfort.

I like poetry books and you like fiction.

You like talking on the phone and I like the presence.

I like the dark, but I don’t mind that you like shining through once in awhile.

One day I’ll like you, or even love you, and one day you’ll believe me too.
