Vanity

Of a Reflection

It came in ways of which I could not tell

From the speech, to the actions

Knowing now that I knew well

I knew of fear, of contempt hidden yet clear

Of a jolly folly that I viewed not so severe

Yet this error brought forth power

It radiated a prowess I soon succumbed to

My once refined tongue stained with the taste of dishonesty

My once hopeful eyes scorned with mirrors of truth

Had I but seen my own mistake in youth

Woe had sealed my fate with a crimson kiss

Obliging the memories of what I’d miss

How arrogant of I, to hold myself in such regard

With pitiful pride, with awful arrogance

How arrogant of I, to believe I could not be scarred
