Poetry

I should have known,

There would be hell to pay,

Its a shame I didn't realized,

That look in your eyes,

Was going to haunt me someday,

Maybe I wasn't ready for the battle,

Not that day,

Not when everything felt so strange,

I can't tell you when it all went up in flames

Or explain,

how hard my heart hit the ground,

Oddly enough, I'm not sure it even made a sound,

Some nights I can still feel the heat from the fire,

It sends shivers through my spine,

But the darkness was never a match,

Not for a heart like mine.
