Unmoveable

Fatal Attraction

my attraction is fatal

it's an unmovable Redwood forest

with its roots entwined into my mind,

throughout my body

i try to cut it down

with my axe, the sharp blade

bounces back uselessly as

the corner of the blade

draws crimson on my finger

i sink to my knees,

dig my finger into the damp soil

the Earth absorbs my blood

but my life-force is

never enough

i look up into the canopy of branches

and spot specks of blue:

i scream into

those spaces of freedom

that peak out from the dissonance

of the beautiful but unmovable forest

Redwood Forest
