United No Matter What

Tragedy shouldn't be only thing bringing us together.

Are you a shrub or flora?

Fruit or vegetation?

Planned or wild?

Regardless, roots will never change

That we're all pieces of this chaparral

That ceases to be bound by one label.

As much as we're naturally drawn

To the nice warmth and light that accepts us,

It seems we're also drawn together

By the cold from those who freeze plants into withering

Or tear the poor souls from the ground up.

We try to fertilize each other

With discouragement of the actions committed

And wishes on stars that another part of the garden isn't tarnished.

However, eventually return to watching new plants sprout

And focus on the other parts of the world

While forgetting our unity and loud voices from before.

Regardless of seasons, storms, or changes within us,

We are still the same community who wants the light and warmth.

If we encourage more attention toward that want

And help fertilize each other during our brightest,

The coldest of crimes within our crowds

May shrink seed by seed.
