Unexpected
When One Must Leave, so Another May Join
The moment I saw her,
I cried.
She looked so much like another,
Another whom I had lost all too soon.
I looked into those eyes,
And I knew she had to be mine.
It was love at first sight.
I gave her everything she needed,
Everything she could possibly want.
All the love I had, still overflowing from before,
And even more, now, that was, just for her.
The look in her eyes when she stares up at me,
I melt every time,
Even now,
Almost five years later,
My heart still skips a beat when I see her.
I love it when she sings to me,
So early in the morning.
I love it when she chatters over my morning coffee.
When she demands to be cuddled under the blanket on a cold winter day.
Sometimes I look at her precious little face,
And I cry,
Missing the one I had lost before,
But I see her every day when I look into her eyes.
They are so different,
But so the same.
If I had not lost,
I would not have gained,
I would not have known she existed,
I could not have saved.
When one life ends,
Sometimes another can begin.
From sorrow and pain,
Can come a wonderful,
Unconditional love.
