Unending

A Poem

From out of infinity I came soaring

and in this world I found conflict roaring.

Through argument, there was lost many a friend.

But she, nor I, will ever end.

I lived a life, completely fulfilled.

Again, many a companion killed.

To their graves, we did attend,

but we are one, and shall not end.

I was many a disparate particle.

Now, I write this article.

People will inevitably contend,

but the fact remains.

I will not, cannot, end.

My consciousness will falter.

Tempting will be the altar.

Regardless of pious dogma and trend,

I will go on; I will not end.

For all eternity, I drifted along.

I was not concerned with the anxious throng.

In this life, I had family and friend.

The future is doubtful, but there shall be no end.
