“I know everything,”

he professes, though not

in quite so few words.

Oh, no, it’s with

many more comments

on many more topics.

He tells everyone how much he knows,

how wise he is,

again. Again. And again.

She listens and stares

out of the window

at the rolling waves of the sea.

Reminding herself

sitting at this fine table

with pure white linens

is why she tolerates him so.

Away from little siblings

dying of curable diseases

again. Again. And Again.

she’s on the seas

where their ashes were spread.

Yes. This is why.

This is why she tolerates him so.
