Two Steps Away From the Edge

A Poem

You called tracked me.

You didn't want me to go.

You knew what I was going to do.

You were always too smart for your own good once you found out where I was you Ran up the stairs.

You were breathing in and out as fast as my heart was beating.

Everything went numb it was time to say good.

I closed my eyes.

I remembered everything we had been through together.

I remember.

The swing set where we met, you meeting my family, my friends. All the hard times and sad ones but also all the good and happy ones. We got a dog together, and the house, you got on one knee and married me.

No matter what best friends forever.

There were cuts, weeks where I was just sad, felt lazy.

The rain always calmed both of us down.

I lost my way in the dark.

Don't worry you don't have to help me anymore.

I won't be your burden anymore.

You ran up those stairs.

I smile goodbye.

I remember the tears.

The screams.

One step.

“no I love you”

please forgive me.

Falling with the wind.

My eyes closed.

Goodbye.
