bite down into the salt

grind the grains through your teeth

it’s over and on again

the next thing to fill the void

can you be blamed?

black on your tongue, regurgitated

from the gore in your guts

scrub till the blood boils out.

you poor child, sick beyond help

don’t you know?

keep fighting but it’s pointless

a nail-studded stick swinging in the wind.

...

maybe those stars you love so much

don’t shine for you,

but still, they shine.

isn’t that enough?

this universe is not yours

but you belong to it.

demanding love is an

act of immensity.

use it, feed it with your broken

memories and beating heart.

maybe we don’t matter

but we do exist. that is enough.

what else can you do but

live?

isn’t that enough?
