Too Late

When You Give Up on Someone Who Won't Give Up on You

I held her close

Then let out a warm sigh

Everything felt perfect

Before she started to cry

I wanted her to be happy

After not seeing me this long

But now I stand wondering

What I had done wrong

I wasn't there when she struggled

To fall asleep at night

Fighting her inner demons

Long after moonlight

I didn't know she hadn't laughed

Since the day I had been gone

Or that it was a lie

When she told me she'd moved on

I pulled her frame toward my own

As I began to see

All her tears were silent screams

Saying she'd always love me

I can't say I don't feel the same

That would be a lie

I can't say it but I feel it

I'll love her til I die
