I am happy

It's one of my very few good days

the wind on my skin

hearts leaping without a care

The world could be burning

But Today, I am happy

Ignoring the sounds around me

Today

I can fly, spread my broken wings

and for today, I soar

High above the clouds

eyes wide open

Heart filled with joy

endless possibilities fill my head

and just for today

I can dream of a better me

Today

I smile, it's been a while

so yes it hurts

But I stretch my closed lips upward

toward the rising sun

Giving myself hope

that tomorrow can be another one

A good day.

Today

I breathe,

My lungs burn with the intake of freshness

Contraction causes pain.

But it's the good pain

The pain that reminds of the rainbow

after the storm passed over my island.

I breathe, and a mountain has lifted off me

Today

Acid falls not from the sky

but cleansing water

releasing a happy feeling

throughout me

freeing me

making me new.

Today is a good day

today I am brand new
