To the Moon

To You

I love you to the moon and back

But it takes a long time to get to the moon

I don’t want to move too fast

Then I won’t meet all the parts of you

I could fall at first glance

But what exactly would that prove?

I love you to the moon and back

The more I pace myself, the less I lose

I love you to the moon and back

I’m almost there, just learning about your past

Making sure all the broken pieces are in tact

So when I get there I can pick them up at last

I’m sorry you’ve been hurt, but in fact

rocky roads paved our current path

I love you to the moon and back

I can see it now, bright in the contrast

I love you to the moon and back

I have made it, but I mustn’t relax

I love you to the moon and back

I need to keep what I now have

I love you to the moon

But why would I want to go back?

You are the moon,

I loved you to you
