Time Machine

A Poem

“Time Machine”

If only I could find a Time Machine.

I would live the “what could have been”

I would turn back the clock to the past.

Take the days taken for granted and make them last.

I am happy in my life today.

But I cannot help but wonder of yesterday.

All the chances I did not take.

All the words I did not say.

To feel the Summers that never seemed to end.

To feel forever before it began.

To silence the echoes of my mind's voice.

To take a gamble and roll the dice.

Back to a day when life was so simple.

Where we would cast a stone without fear of the ripples.

In the river to the ocean where we did not fear the Sea.

To take a gamble on you and me.

If only I could find a Time Machine.

Maybe I would find the white picket fence and fields of green.

Maybe the sun wouldn’t set on the romantic dream.

And we wouldn’t be a chapter of what could of been.
