Thunder and Lightning Strikes

Pain in Our Father's Teardrops

as the thunder booms

the world fills with its dooms

as the lightning strikes

there's trouble in our nights

It has happened before

behind our closed doors

When we are tucked in at night

feeling all safe and sound

somewhere there might be a child

who isn't alright

someone is in some child's bed

and the Father is surely seeing red

It happens all the time

we know this in our minds

Everywhere as the sun goes down

we turn out the lights all around

a child will suffer through the night

while they are tucked way out of sight

when we look up in the sky

we might think it's raindrops

I believe it's the pain in Father's teardrops
