Thoughts

A Poem

One thing that many people do not understand is depression.

Now, some people who claim to be depressed are not actually depressed, and that is why so many people misunderstand.

Depression is not something one can just turn off.

Just because a person with depression has found someone or something, that does not mean that they have no right to be depressed anymore.

Depression consumes one's soul and body.

A person who once used to be in excellent shape can become sluggish.

A person can lose all interest they had in something because of their depression.

Depression cannot be turned off.

Many people believe that depression isn't actually an illness.

Depression takes over your thoughts and feelings to where you cannot control your body anymore.

The once happy and pleasant thoughts turn into the fiery pits of Hell.

Soon, one can no longer remember what is happy.

Depression is constantly there, hovering over your shoulder, whispering in your ear.

Depression is always holding a knife to your back, and depression presses the knife deeper every time it sees you smile.

Depression will whisper the darkest things into your mind, and those thoughts may never escape.

So yes, depression is a real illness.

But the worst part of depression is:

Who has the ability to turn their thoughts off?
