Those Days

A Reminder That Life Still Matters

There will be days that you’ll want to turn the music up so loud that your ears pop like bubble gum

- and there will be days that you will burst from happiness a hundred times a minute and you’ll feel as though you’ll never grow old or you never were.

There will be days that there seems to be far more shade than there is sun,

and your heart is far too pale to know empathy.

There will be days that you feel so alive that there is no way that this meat suit you wear is just here by several people getting laid

Then there will be the days that taste like candy but turn into vinegar without a forewarning to your taste buds,

There will be the days that you get up early on purpose

- and you love being awake and the morning air tastes better than the afternoons' and you decide you should get up more often.

There will be days that your muscles ache and your heart hurts and your brain is trying to decide whether to let go of everything or to hold on so tightly that you leave claw marks

engraved, forever.

There will be days that you cry over a song that changed you.

There will be days that you find longer, less sweet, less memorable, less important.

There will be days that define every other day after and the kinds of days that your brain and heart are synchronized with every cell in your body

and you’ll want to dance on the moon.

There will be the days you drink too much moon water and you wrap yourself up in your cocoon and hope the world forgets about butterflies.

There will be days when there’s a giant butterfly on the back of your head in a world without mirrors and you wish you could see the color of its wings.

But then, there will be days where you make it a point to watch the pink of the sky touch the blue of the water and make all of the trees become a black silhouette

and you’ll wonder how such destructive creatures such as humans earned the privilege to witness those trees?

There will be days, months, maybe years where you will deny the love in your heart, and the love of others and you’ll always prefer a bird who doesn’t nest.

But then, there will be days where you meet someone you feel you’ve known your whole life and you’ll feel so whole that you’ll forget that half of you aches for a permanence, a constant; a feeling that isn't real.

There will be days where you want to start a business selling jars of happiness to every lifeform on this Earth to ensure they live to their satisfaction.

There will be days that you cry that you can’t physically sell jars of happiness to every pair of sad eyes you see.

But, there will be days where those sad eyes find their own jar of happiness,

and you’ll be glad you let them find it on their own.

There will come a time that you’ll be content in your meat suit, and you’ll walk your feet to the nooks and crannies of our world that not many choose to venture to

You’ll remember that you are blessed and you are in charge of this body’s journey.

You will remember that you are always on someone’s mind and your wrecking ball of a life has impacted another whether you meant to or not.

You will remember that you have the ability to cause a ripple, and you have the ability to breathe another day that someone else is not, and you will feel damn happy to be so alive.

I hope you find everything you want in the people beside you.

I hope you find a place you can call your favorite view.

I hope you find your passion and may we see it in your eyes every time you talk about it.

Remember that war, injustice, ignorance, and greed has divided us

When we are all the same species

Despite our views

Despite the color of our skin

Despite our religion

Despite the one we choose to love.

And no matter how dark it may seem right now, the ones who matter, will always see you.

Choose peace, choose love, choose kindness.
