Thorns

Do not prick your finger on the thorn

A flower’s beauty distracts the pain

When the world has left you torn

And all that you have sworn

Has proven far too much to obtain

Do not prick your finger on the thorn

The potential in you still yet unborn

But the mind is yet to ascertain

When the world has left you torn

And the sun is only faintly adorn

It's not a storm only the rain

Do not prick your finger on the thorn

Those before you try to warn

Looped into an endless chain

When the world has left you torn

With families nestled in their woeful mourn

And outsiders looking in with disdain

Do not prick your finger on the thorn

When the world has left you torn
