This One's for You

A Poem About My Ex (Written in 2009)

How could I be so dumb... so naïve

To think that someone like you could ever be with someone like me

Yet and still I carried on

Thinking one day I’d be on your arm

But alas that day never came

And in my mind, I was the one to blame

What could I have done to make you see my worth?

To see the me that surpassed my girth

But when I look back I find

That it was never me and it was all in my mind

It was never going to happen and that is the truth

And to be honest, you weren’t even that cute

How dare I allow myself to stoop so low

Just for the chance to “bask in your glow”

But you know what

It’s alright now

I no longer walk with my head held down

You’re not worth it and never were

Can’t believe I jeopardized my future for such a loser

Well just like this verse this part of my life is through

And you’re so vain you already knew that this one's for you
