Things We Lost in the Fire

Love is rare.

An Original Poem by Madison McKinney

Anybody can look at you. It's quite rare to find someone who sees the same world that you see.

One day you feel as if you're on top of the world. There is finally another being who brings you happiness the way it should be.

They'll draw you in and hold you close, then break it off. The feelings of wonder and security swept aside, but said it'll make you tough.

It hurts to breathe the air that I once shared with you. It pains me to see your friends who I once was close with too.

It hurts to know that you're happier than before. It pains me to know that you didn't want me anymore.

Love hurts and no one stays, as time gets down to the wire.

No one knows what they have, until it is lost in the fire.
