There's A Girl

There's a girl, 6 years old.

She stands tall and manners she holds.

There's a girl, 6 years old.

Nothing seems wrong, she does what she's told.

But mama’s in trouble, and dad don’t care.

She hears them fight, but nothing she shares.

Mama’s in trouble, and dad don’t care.

She wants help, nothing seems fair.

There's a girl, 12 years old.

She's seen the bad - creases but doesn’t fold.

There's a girl, 12 years old.

She seems lost - nobody really knows.

And mama’s now worse and dad’s not here.

She prays at night, holding her biggest fear.

Mama’s now worse, and dad’s not here,

She misses school and time is running near.

There's a girl, 18 years old.

Her mother’s sick, and the money got stoled.

There's a girl, 18 years old.

6 years now, she's run the household.

But mama’s now dead, and dad’s long gone.

You see her grief - a burden you can’t fawn.

Mama’s now dead, and dads long gone.

I guess this is it, from here and on.
