There Is No Remedy for Jealousy

This poem is about jealousy.

There is no remedy for jealousy.

There is only gas lighting,

And projection of one's own feelings onto another person.

I am an easy target,

Because I fight back.

Because I once was concerned about the views of others.

Because I once cared deeply about you.

Before I learned that happiness can only come from within.

And everyone else is secondary in your life.

Only you can fix you.

These answers can only come from within your own soul.

I stand my ground.

I speak my truths.

I am not filled with hate.

I am not filled with envy.

There is nothing to be jealous of.

I am dumbfounded and confused.

There is no remedy for jealousy.

No book that can solve all your problems.

No secret language that you can learn.

I am no green-eyed monster.

I only demonize those who deserve it.

Those who hate me,

And wish to do me harm.

Those who will never apologize for their actions.

Or even understand what they did wrong.

Those who will not let bygones be bygones,

And move on with their lives in a different direction.

If I am the most hated person you know,

Why waste time thinking about me.

Turn your hate for me into love for someone else.

I am not your hatred.

I am your victim.

You once respected me.

Now you loathe me.

There is no remedy for jealousy.

There is no herb you can grow,

Or witch doctor that you can visit.

There are only yourself and your feelings.

And those who choke me with bare hands in my sleep.
