Their Chains S(he) Cannot See

An Aphorism in Ab

What is FREEDOM?

How is it that FREEDOM can be truly KNOWN?

How is it that it can be LIVED and LIVED fully if it is to be LIVED at all?

Oh, how often do persons cheaply claim it, that they are in the truest sense FREE...

Oh, how often do persons spill wrathful rhetoric in defense of their sweet, sweet LIBERTY

But little, so very little, do most persons in fact KNOW...

That their FREEDOM...

Oh, yes their FREEDOM...

Are but the CHAINS...

The CHAINS wrapped in FREEDOM's ragged clothes.

Not only this but even more the IRONY...

Their wrath, their wrathing screams...

Are not the cries of FREEDOM...

Only the woeful moans of their shackled humanity

They are not blind...

For yes they SEE

They SEE the scars these CHAINS do leave

They are not numb...

For yes they FEEL

They FEEL the wounds left to rot in perpetuity

But yet they SEE...

But yet they SEE not...

For these CHAINS lay hidden from their eyes

In the lies, they were born into...

And the ones they bought into...

For what the eye can't SEE

Is what a person no longer needs.

For what is FREEDOM?
