The Water

Poem

THE WATER IS LOST WITH ME INSIDE

I'M DROWNING DEEPER THE HOLE IS WIDE

THE BLADE MY HATE I WALK BEHIND

THE OTHER’S WHO DON’T SEE

I FOUND THE WELL AND I TIED THE ROPE

THE HEART I FOUND WILL TEAR AND CHOKE

NOON CAME FIRST THEY CRIED FOR HOPE

BUT I COULD NOT SPEAK THEIR WORDS

THE GOLD THAT FELL LIKE NEEDLES POINTS

THE BLACK ETCHINGS INSIDE THE JOINTS

CRACK AND MOAN LIKE PAUPERS COINS

THIS MORNING I’M ALONE

I PULLED THE WIRES OF DARKENED CURLS

COME ON DOWN TO DIFFERENT WORLDS

THIEVES ON STONE FOREVER BURNED

ANYTHING’S HEAVEN IN HERE

UNTIL I TOOK THE WINDOW FROM

THE FACE OF THE NATIVE LONG

SHE COULD NOT SEE TILL I WAS GONE

MAYBE SHE WAS JUST BORED

HERE MIDNIGHT COMES IN BLOODIED DRESS

THE MEANING FOR SOMEBODY ELSE

THE SCARS FOR ME A FINE CARESS

DIMENSIONS FALSE AND SAD

I DESCRIBE THE SCENE IN GREAT DETAIL

OF ANGELS HIGH WITH SERPENTS TAILS

A SMALL ROOM GIRL WITH JUNKIE CRAVES

I SIT TO PICK UP THE KEY

THE FAMILY HEAD IN THE FAMILY CAR

THE BLACK SHIP SAILS TO A RAVEN STAR

VEINS SLIDE OPEN WE GOT THAT FAR

BUT WE COULD GET NO FURTHER

FELL ON KNEES OUR BELLIES FULL

WITH SPECTRAL CHAINS WE’RE MEANT TO PULL

YOURE SKIN UNWOVEN VIRGIN WOOL

THE NEED TO WHICH WE FALL

THE WATER IS LOST WITH US INSIDE

A CATACOMB OF DEATHSHEAD BRIDES

HOPLELESS NOW, DOWN COMES THE NIGHT

ONTO THOSE WHO WON’T SEE
