The Wall

I eat and eat and eat

Easily forcing

It down

My throat

Blindly

Tasting the

Sweetness

Of despair

Chunks of salty

Melancholy

And creamy

Hatred

I lick my cracked lips

With my deadened tongue

And savour the

Fury

The instrument heavy

In my hand

Chasing

The calm rhythm

Up and down

Up and down

The bowl overflows

With loneliness

Building the bits

Inch by inch

Day by day

Satiates me

A perfect

Collaboration

Assembled so well

It can’t be broken

Fragments of sorrow

Fused together

That need

To be freed

My own human shield

Keeping the joy out

And the suffering

Within

It’s time

To experience the

Proper pain of

Constructing my new self

Outside

This wall

For I am not

What I have become

sad poetry
