I feel him,
But at the same time
Our particles repel one another.
It's a strange thought, really—
To know that you're as close as you'll ever be to a person,
Hugging them...
Kissing them...
Touching them...
But there's always a distance between the two of you
No matter how microscopic.
Science has a way of teaching us lessons like that, I suppose.
It's all just one big metaphor.
We can strive for perfection
But we
As humans
Are inherently imperfect,
Making true perfection is therefore impossible.
We can be as close to a person as day—one
But we
Can't really know
For sure what's going on in their minds
Because we are not them.
This is not to say we cannot reach for dreams,
Because we can always come close.
But is science right in this metaphor?
Can we ever truly touch someone...
Something... an idea... a dream.
