The Traveling Song

I wanna mosey down the road a piece,

once the snows have gone,

I wish to see -

what I have not seen before.

I wanna go down the road a piece,

one hand in the hand of my love,

one hand in the hand of the Lord,

my cat in a sack

and see what’s around the bend.

I’ve had lots of things,

to be thankful for,

so it’s not cause I’m greedy for more,

just wanna know -

what other wonders this lovely Earth holds.

I wanna go down the road a piece,

one hand in the hand of my love,

one hand in the hand of the Lord,

my cat in a sack

and see what’s around the bend.

I wanna see some more,

of all the beauty everywhere

and take a look at some mountain tops.

Converse with the animals in the wild

and go fishing on rivers I’ve only heard about.

If I stay in one place,

content I’ll be,

but then I’ll never know,

how the other side of the world looks.

I wanna go down the road a piece,

one hand in the hand of my love,

one hand in the hand of the Lord,

my cat in a sack

and see what’s around the bend.

So I wanna go wandering,

before life closes its door on me

and find what I haven’t found before.

Not much, just life’s simplest pleasures

and meet friendly people,

as we go along.

I wanna go down the road a piece,

one hand in the hand of my love,

one hand in the hand of the Lord,

my cat in a sack

and see what’s around the bend.
