The Tomb of the Last Living Poet
An Apocalyptic Vision

There was a memorial service held yesterday
At the tomb of the last living poet.
Hundreds came with flowers to lay
By the tomb of the last living poet.
The speakers, of note, had nothing to say
At the tomb of the last living poet.
The death of the language got in the way
At the tomb of the last living poet.
The mourners in solemn procession trudged
Past the tomb of the last living poet.
Will our civilization be eternally judged
By the tomb of the last living poet?
