The Thirst- Figurative
Like a bottle of water
Hidden behind a convenience store fridge glass
After a long trek without a drop of hydration
That low burn
Your mouth goes dry
As your body tries to sap
every bit of what it needs
Before you cave
And cave you will
But its just out of reach
God, look at it
Dew beads along the surface
Caused by the heat
Yours or some other variable?
Who even knows anymore?
It's been too long
It's rapture just touching
Do you have enough money?
Did you even bring money?
God, you hope you brought money.
Imagine it inside
You should probably not.
An unnecessary expense.
You have it for free at home.
Fuck it.
You make the transaction
It's all yours for a few moments
Drink up, now.
Your lips on the edge
It hits your tongue
Your pinched brow relaxes in relief
Take it in one part of your body but it feels like
it's hitting everywhere
You drink greedily
Your favorite Seven Deadly
Which one am I talking about?
A satisfied sigh and your head tilts back
It's only temporary,
You'll be thirsty again
And maybe you'll have the water at home next time.
