The Sun Kissed the Sky Goodnight

Heartbreak, I suppose.

The sun kissed the sky "goodnight" as she fell asleep.

The sky blushed, her cheeks flushed with deep ruby reds and royal blues. It was evenings like this the sky found it practically impossible to conceal her affliction towards her beloved sunlight.

The sky sighed, a warm breeze. Late November felt like summer.

Passionate reds turned to sleepy blues as the sun sank into the horizon and the moon rose.

Even though the sun was now gone, the sky didn't shed a tear. In fact, it was quite the opposite, stars

twinkled in the sky's eyes. Sky knew that her daylight would return soon, as she always did.

Sleepily, the sun rose, with her lips she wished the sky "good morning." This had always been the sky's favourite part of the day, she smiled softly and became all shades of hazy pinks.

It carried on like this for a while, the cycle between night and day, it felt permanent, so definite. Sky felt so sure.

As time went on, little by little, sun became more distant, less bright. It was almost spring now but it felt so much colder. Sky felt grey, she was filled with clouds most of the time and it rained almost every day. Sun made occasional appearances teasing and tempting but she never stayed. Mornings were dim and nights were storms, god knows Sky was miserable. "Will she ever come back?" Sky wondered, longing for the seemingly fictional summer when she'd be reunited with her love.
