The Stranger

Hide Little Children

There was a little girl

whoes name I don't remember

she used to pick flowers

down by the river.

she looked so sweet

in her yellow dress

lacy white socks

and bonet with a clasp.

there was a man

top hat and cloak

he darkened the roadway

everywhere he walked

go hide little children

and don't make a sound

for a monster has come to town.

lock your doors and windows tight,

find a place to hide

don't go out into the night.

the stranger left town

took his darkness with him

the ones who didn't hide

cried as he engulfed them.

go hide little children

and don't make a sound

for a monster has come to town.

there was a little girl

whoes name I don't remmber

she used to pick flowers

down by the river.
