The Storm

A Poem

The Storm

Rain taps on my window

Like pebbles being thrown against the clear cool glass

The wind howls

Like wolves pointing their noses toward the sky

Screaming for the moon way up high.

The screeching wind causes the trees tap

Up against the glass of the window

They make a light tapping sound

Tap

Tap

Tap

Lightning cracks across the sky,

Lighting up the darkness of my room.

In the light,

I see your face,

As quickly as the image came,

It was gone.

You were just a ghost

Haunting my memory

A figment my imagination made up

You would never be here

With me

Because you were never mine

And

I

Will never be yours.
