The Spiritual Flower

In memory of mum & dad.

I imagine I’m growing a spiritual flower

That only you can see

And I’m sending it with all my love

From Earth to Heaven, to you from me

I imagine deep purple petals

Soft and velvety to the touch

And the dewdrops that hang there are the tears I have cried

From missing you so much

I imagine its stem is woven from

A twist of platinum and gold

I imagine you both taking my hand

As I give you the flower to hold

I imagine its thorns are made from the stars

That twinkle in the light

And every star is a tender kiss

When you come to say goodnight

I imagine it smells of my childhood

And the memories that we shared

Of the summer days we had together

And the cuddles to show that you cared

I imagine your presence when I close my eyes

And as I give you my flower to hold

I tell you that I love you both very much still

A love that gives me warmth from the cold
