If you’ve never suffered the pain of a broken heart, perhaps you’ve never known love, and perhaps you’ve never experienced loss.
Can you see yourself deep down in a hole,
Where the light doesn’t want to go,
Tying yourself up in a fetal knot,
Until there’s nothing left to show?
And that’s what it’s like…
The darkness of a broken heart…
The final closing of an open door,
The empty echo of a silent floor;
You think of leaving,
But you haven’t the will to start.
Picture yourself running through a forest,
On a stormy, horrific night;
The wind is lashing like an angry child,
Who wants to hurt you out of spite.
And this is the pain…
The chaos of a broken heart…
The clouds of onus and the rain get in,
The sense of lone-ness and the cold set in;
You go on grieving,
And you cannot remove the dart.
Imagine yourself on a tiny isle,
In the midst of a swirling sea;
The waves are looming like a hungry beast,
And there’s nowhere for you to flee.
And that’s how it is…
The tempest of a broken heart…
With nothing showing but an empty space,
The sound of hollow filling up the place;
You stop believing,
And reality falls apart.
