PHX17 After I heard my favorite song.

You’re with friends, the music shuffles to your favorite song

You’re loudest when it comes to singing along,

And you know you’ll never get the words wrong,

And everything is okay.

You wish to someday see this band

A band with whom you’ll always stand

Fantasizing, it would be so grand,

And everything is okay.

You get your tickets to the show

Family says “go with someone you know”

You’re great friends, but only met a few months ago,

And everything is okay.

You’re on a plane to see the guys

Your excitement now intensifies

Between the two of you, there’s no surprise

That everything is okay.

Finally, it’s concert night

Your stomach starts to get real tight

When you see them step into the light

Everything is okay.

They open with a popular one

The crowd lets loose and has some fun

The song now, is just about done,

And everything is okay.

A few more songs and you know you’re done for

Still, more songs, and everybody wants more

But you haven’t heard your song. What’s still in store?

Is everything okay?

The show ends and you don't hear your favorite song

The one to which you truly loved singing along,

You hoped and hoped, but you were wrong,

Everything is not okay.

You get home devastated, but happy

You didn’t hear your favorite song and that was crappy

You miss your boys, and you know it sounds sappy

Will everything be okay?

Later, your friend calls to check on you

To see if you were miserable too

Neither of you know quite what to do

You want everything to be okay.

You listen to their music day in and day out

You catch interviews to learn what these songs are really about

You love them, you love them, there is no doubt

Things are starting to be okay.

Again calls your friend with new things planned

For when you would travel next to see this band

You’re so excited, you can barely stand

And everything is okay.

The second time, you listen close so there’s no mistakin’

And the third time too, but still no bacon

You listen for your song while your heart is breakin’

Everything is not okay.

Over time, you get a job

To make money to see Stephen, Mike, Billy and Rob

The men that make you “musician’s heart” throb

Everything will be okay.

Again your friend calls with a proposition

Suggesting the two of you go on another expedition

To see the band again; your forever mission

And everything is okay.

After a few shows, they start to recognize your faces

You’ve seen them in, now, four different places

Again they enter the stage, and your heart races

Everything is okay.

A few songs in, and the band had stated

They’d play the song for which you so eagerly waited

You can’t contain yourself; your whole body is elated,

And everything is okay.

Among friends, you hear the band play your favorite song

Together, you are all beautifully singing along,

You’re confident you can’t possibly get the words wrong,

And everything is okay.
