The Sleepless Night.

10 PM

Oh, hello my oldest friend

I see you made it out again

A welcomed visit from the sleepless night

11 PM

Its been a while since you called

Tell me how I seem to fall

For the way your darkness shines so bright

12 AM

Deeply entranced by your sweet embrace

Yet I find it difficult to face

You my stunning sleepless night

1 AM

I understand your good intent

Needless to say I must repent

The wrong you make feel so right

2 AM

You know you shouldn’t be here

Carried with you is such a fear

Of daybreak that brings the sun's light

3 AM

Why do you distract me from the rest I deserve?

My love for you is deep but sometimes you’ve struck a nerve

Is it because I am tired, vulnerable, and unwilling to fight?

4 AM

Our visits are often too long

Though I have enjoyed our time, don’t get me wrong

It is time for you to leave my sleepless night

5 AM

I regret to inform you of a welcome overstayed

Deepest regrets that we know you will soon fade

I can see you slipping, fading, and clinging to the sky with a grip too tight

6 AM

This has happened many times before as it will happen again

So, goodbye for now my oldest friend

Looking forward to the next visit from my sleepless night
