The Silent Man

The Man

The silent man

I kept my mouth shut

Not saying a single word

I was their little girl

In a skirt and shirt

I stood in front of the mirror

My long hair flowing

This was not who I was

Without me knowing

They would never understand

The silent man

Their angry glares and hurtful words

Seemed part of their plan

I am more than this

It is time to be strong

The silent man must roar

On the journey so long

I stand in front of the mirror

Short hair showing

The silent man is me

Now I am knowing

There is no time to be scared

There is no time to be shy

Stand up and show them

How you are to fly

It doesn’t matter if they listen

If they cry scream and hate

Reach out around you

It is never too late

Stop hiding behind masks

And be who you are

Stand up

And raise the bar

The silent man slept

The silent man cowered

But no more

The silent man towers

The girl in a skirt is gone

Just a memory for me

The silent man

For all to see
