The Silence
An excerpt from 'Passion' (https://amzn.to/31tkLJs)
The whir of the tires upon the road
The hum of the engine
Can only be heard when one is
In this headspace…
You know,
That headspace where silence screams
Where the world is moving around you
But,
You are staying still.
I am still but not quiet
The silence in my head,
In my environment
Screams at me;
All of my mistakes,
Distasteful, disgusting acts.
Even the radio can’t drown the noise.
I feel your sentiment,
Being is a challenge.
Uncomfortable in my skin,
With my soul;
Don’t even get me started
On my emotional void
Fake it until you make it,
I am still waiting
To make it!
Will I make it?
I doubt the concept
When I entertain the thought
I hear the laughter, the mockery
Not from others, but,
From the silence.
The silence is a killer;
A co-dependent wraith,
An emotional, spiritual vampire.
I hate it,
But I don’t know a future without
The Silence.
