I could not excavate the ruins of you
Even if I had always searched for what was once lost
Or hidden by time.
Forgetting is the memory
Burying itself deeply
Between layers of notions
Into nothingness.
And yet at times I’d still explore your body with my lips
Carving soft kisses into your thighs
And seeking rumors of far away places
In your distant eyes.
You remind me of a place where people say they have visited
But no one has ever really been.
Uncharted touches mark your skin.
And a map can be found only
Between the beats of your heart.
