The Promise of New Year's Eve

A Poem

As the Christmas fantasy begins to fade...

Our children play on regardless...

In the dream that we made.

As we the adults look on ahead with inquisitive apprehension.

Wondering if it will be A Happy New Year?

With the same stress and tension.

It will soon be time to turn off the lights and take down the tree.

Where then will we pin our aging dreams...

You and me?

Will any of the Christmas spirit survive or will it be packed away, too?

As into the New Year we strive on ahead...

Me and you.

As the New Year approaches there's resolutions all around.

In the hearts of the hopeless, there is faith to be found.

Even if it doesn't last at least for one night they will believe.

It's hard not to feel the optimisum on a New Year's Eve.

The countdown is soon upon us and there is such joy in all eyes.

As Beautiful as any Sunset or any Starry evening lit skies.

As music plays and crowds sing so many are blissfully unaware.

That inside we are all silently whispering the words to our own private prayer.

The lonely hearts pray to find their missing parts...

Those who have lost and mourn feel one step nearer.

As the souls who have been stressed & depressed finally confess...

To feeling at least just for tonight a little bit clearer.

There's a unity in our longing...

This is my prayer coming true.

Where we are not separate or alone...

All messages are coming through.

We feel a connection to all and understand...

One by one we make the whole.

We can stop the searching for at long last...

We've found home within our souls.

Let's aim for for forever.

Let's Dream and let's Believe.

This life is ours to live so let's live it...

Let's keep alive...

The promise of New Year's Eve.
