The Path

Sometimes you have to make a choice.

She came to a place in the forest

where one path broke into

two

One one path stood her loved ones

cheering for her to come their way

but on that path,

the ground was loose and even

and large boulders dotted the path

But on the other, stood just a few

whose faces she recognized

They didn't call or beckon

but quietly stood

waiting for her to make up her

mind

She looked left, then right

then left again, agonizing

over the decision

Unsure, she looked behind her and

was shocked at what she saw

Boulders, pebbles, thorns, and branches

covered the path she'd come through

her feet and her legs

were bruised and bloodied from the

journey she'd previously been on

Saddened, but encouraged,

she knew just what to do

and started walking towards the path

where there were just a few

And with each step

she grew more sure

lighter, joyful, more free
