The Orange Cat Who Predicted the Future
This poem is based on true life events, only with a twist. The orange cat that I do own is not the same one from the Humane Society.
I took my son to the Humane Society as an experiment.
I wanted to expose him to cats and dogs and see if he had a predisposition to either.
In my heart,
I wanted him to choose cats.
But I understood he would be his own person one day and I had to respect his preference.
We walked down an aisle with different colors of cats in clear glass windows.
We got about halfway down the aisle and he pointed to a large male striped orange cat.
He showed interested in this cat in particular from a sea of black and calicos.
We walked through another aisle with more cats.
My son showed little interest.
Next, we walked through the dog area.
He seemed bored and uninterested.
As a test, we went back to the first row of cats and he immediately went back to the same orange cat and pointed at him.
His mind was set on this single orange feline.
Fast forward three years and an orange and white male cat joins our household.
My son is instantly attracted to our families new furry rescue.
There is something very special about this cat.
It's as if we had met before.
