The Most Beautiful Eyes

For Those Eyes that See More than What They're Capable of

I closed my eyes out of shame.

Sometimes I’d wonder whether I’d be able to open them again.

Tears could clean them but I still could not see.

Only dreams of light held me up.

But in the morning, darkness slammed me to the ground.

Colors were subtle clouds in a sky dominantly blue.

At times, my mind would calm down and see them.

Sounds recreated memories as my touch gave them life.

Smells became my navigator with just one step.

Each taste allowed me to understand more than I ever had.

Soon, I had noticed that I became less aware of black and white.

The dark and the light only appeared for seconds, anyways.

I now possessed a newer vision.

One of a vibrancy beyond my previous comprehension.

Had I have known, I would’ve closed my eyes more.

I would have listened to my touch as I smelled everything I tasted.

I should’ve felt the smile on my face.

When I open my eyes now, I still cannot see.

But when I open my mind, I can see anything.
