The Moon's Veil (Part 1)
The sky is so dark.
The sky is so dark
pitch black
like the veil of death
giving home to the minds of those
who wander
who are lost
have lost
don’t want to lose
The full moon
shining so brightly
its sharp light
pierces the soul
like a blade through the flesh
At first glance
you cannot breathe
you cannot look away
you cannot control one bit
of the voice inside
telling you to look away
before time disappears
The everliving light
contrasted upon the night
hypnotizes
at a single glance
It feasts upon the hungry
minds who look for
answers
It looks down
spreading the lie
that it can guide you
You aren’t warned
you look up to find beauty
but you see a mask
you believe it true
The longer you gaze
the longer life waits
Can’t you hear
the screaming
coming from inside
begging you to let go
the stare you hold is becoming held
by the truth that isn’t
But far
behind the lie
sits a truth
The truth is the sun
it hurts to find
to see
but without it
the veil of night
the veil of death
would be everlasting
For now you must wait
for truth will come again
For now you must linger
surrounded by the light
of lies
For now you must hunger
until the truth cuts
deeper than the lie
For now you lay waking
in the shadow of a lie
you created
For now you shall scream
for loved ones to return
For now you become the lie
saying everything will be okay
For now you promise yourself
nothing is actually wrong
For now you cry out
begging for your first shooting star
to be erased from your mind
For now you face eternity
in the entirety of a moment
For now you are weak
pretending to be strong
For now you say goodbye
to the lie
without knowing
that truth lies ahead
For now you shall never see light
again
you shall never fight
again
you shall never hurt
again
you shall never lie
again
you shall never see truth
again
For now you shall never live
again
