The Introvert Diaries

Anxiety

Anxiety is a crippling fear that runs through your body,

like blood in your veins.

It makes you hide from the world,

and shut yourself in until you forget all about the person you've been.

It eats you up and chains you down.

Makes you believe that its the voice in your head

that has made you survive until now.

You feel it in your fingertips when you try to do something new.

It buzzes like bees in your brain as it frantically tries to escape.

Surges like electricity paralyzing you with fear.

You reach out with your shaky hand keeping your eyes shut tight,

always wanting to ask for help but always too scared of them asking why.

It makes your heart ache and feel like its being squeezed

till you can no longer breathe.

Afraid to lift your head when you speak,

so you go through your life not seeing.

Sometimes it feels like rabid beasts gnawing at you under your skin,

so you scratch and you scratch and don't stop even if you bleed.

Anxiety is a rot that eats away at your brain.

It's a acid that slowly dissolves your soul,

making it hard to forget all the pain.

It's the screaming in your head,

the pounding in your ears.

The agonizing crushing of the bolder on your fragile bones.

Knocking you off your feet every time you attempt to stand,

it is always that shaky and nervous outstretched hand.

It's the breathlessness you feel squeezing on your throat

when you finally build up the courage to have something to say.

It's the fear of encountering the adventures of yet another new day.

It's the uncertainties make you waste your life away.

It's a dark cloud that follows you around your whole life

until you're finally able to see the rainbow again after it rains.

Anxiety is the loneliness that never wants to go away.
