The Hidden You

Vulnerability is terrifying. The courage it takes to reveal your heart is one of the most daunting, yet rewarding experiences in life. It will set you free. -The Better Man Project

Hidden in the very soul of man lies a vulnerability that when brought to the surface can reveal a part of you that you never knew.

Held back by the facade we put on every day, we slowly begin to lose focus on who we should be.

They say the eyes are the window to the soul, but all I see are a buildup of tears crying to be free.

I’m drowning in this vast ocean of society and lock myself away to stay sane.

The seclusion with nowhere to turn leaves me running out of breath, and gasping for answers.

The anxiety leaves me weightless, keeping me from sinking into the ocean.

The ocean that has become the norm for society is slowly taking with it everything we knew of ourselves. Like a thief in the night we are robbed of our sanity and have to learn to embrace the ocean for it has become a part of us.

The only problem is we forget that within that ocean lies a seabed, of which our vulnerability is held down by the weight of the world.

Locked out of sight and ready to break free, we have to learn to become part of the world, but not with the world.

Looking within ourselves takes courage, courage to face the unknown and break free.

Our vulnerability leaves us fragile, with walls of steel surrounding our heart.

Walls that can only come down in their own time and place.

Walls that can damage relationships and tarnish our soul.

Somewhere inside us lies the strength to break through, to become the one He made us to be.

Until that time we wander aimlessly searching for acceptance and love, only to realize that to love requires vulnerability.

Inside each one of us lies a vulnerability that when brought to the surface can reveal a part of you that’s been waiting to break free.

Find that strength and do it now.
